How to Deal with a Kitchen Fire

Watch this short but VERY impressive video to learn the proper way to deal with a kitchen fire. Something we’ve all learned, but I’ve never actually seen how devastating it can be.

A good science project to NOT try at home. Water is heavier than oil. If thrown in the pan it sinks to the bottom, becomes superheated instantly and the water vapor explodes outward, throwing the flaming oil everywhere. Sugar and Flour are not useful either. Both are flammable.

Firefighters tell me that this is a standard demonstration in the academy and that this is an accurate video.
